Ait Ben Haddou is a stunning example of Moroccan architecture and engineering. The fortress was stacked exploiting traditional techniques and materials, including adobe, straw, and wood. Despite being over 300 years old, it still stands fresh and is a will to the science and craftsmanship of Moroccan builders.
Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8 o´clock in the morning, and depart to the High Atlas mountains going through Tizi N´Tichka port with stops for panoramic views.
On the way we will see many Berber villages. Then we continue to the south and detour to take 9 km of a small road that will take us to the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot there, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz…etc. Free time for lunch in town.
In the afternoon we continue to Ouarzazate, where we’ll visit The Atlas Studios; the most important cinema studios in Morocco. Very celebrated films have been made there by international movie producers such as Asterix and Cleopatra, Star Wars, The Mummy, and Gladiator. We will go inside this town and amaze by its design. Return to Marrakech, transfer to the hotel, and end the tour.
