11 Days from Tangier Fez Merzouga Itinerary:

Day 1 : Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen :

Today our 11 Days from Tangier Fez Merzouga to Marrakech will start meeting you in the port and do departure to Chefchaouen passing through Rif Mountains enjoying natural landscape of magic Rifian green mountains till we arrive to Blue- white city of Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen situated in the North, and it was under Spanish troops during the protectorate era; thus, the majority of its inhabitants are influenced by Spanish accent. When we arrive to Chefchaouen we take dinner and spend night there in one of its quiet riads.

Day 2 : Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes

Embark on a magical trip after breakfast at the riad, driving towards Volubilis via scenic Small Rifian Villages. Explore the Roman traces with a local guide upon arrival and learn about the history of Volubilis. After visiting the ruins, head towards the Ismailian capital of Meknes for lunch and a tour of the historical monuments of Moulay Ismail, including the grand walls surrounding the old Medina. Visit the tomb of Moulay Ismail and the old sub jail, Bad Mansour, before returning to your riad for overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 3 : Meknes – Fez :

After breakfast in riad, we leave Meknes for Fez, the most ancient town in Morocco. When we arrive to Fez we go to start our journey seeing, exploring the secrets and historical, cultural traces, heritage of the city; we will enjoy our sightseeing walking in the narrow streets of the old medina. We will insist on seeing the most important sites such as the Old Qarawyine University, the Jewish place, Royal Palace and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum….Over night in Riad/hotel.

Day 4 : Fes – Ifran – Cedar forest – Midelt :

After having breakfast in Riad/hotel, we will take our direction south to see the beautiful city of Ifrane and we pass through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Azrou. Here we will stop at the cedar forest to see monkies as well as to have some pictures. Subsequently, we drive ahead to the city of apple “Midelt” where we will spend over night in a riad/hotel

Day 5 : Midelt – Errachidia – Ziz valley – Merzouga

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before bidding farewell and heading to Merzouga via the Tizi ntlghmt pass. Along the way, pass through numerous villages including Errachidia, and traverse the Ziz valley to arrive at Merzouga. Upon arrival, savor a glass of refreshing “Berber whiskey” mint tea before preparing for a camel trek to immerse yourself in the nomadic lifestyle of the desert. The camel ride from the hotel to the Oasis takes about 1.5 hours, where you will spend the night sleeping in tents. After dinner, gather around the fire, enjoy the desert night atmosphere, and listen to Berber instruments playing desert-style music. Nature lovers can take a peaceful walk on the dunes.

Day 6 : Merzouga – Tinghir gorges – Dades :

We will get up early morning to join and enjoy an impressive sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After doing so, we will escape from Merzouga heading to Dades valley. Within our way we will see a lot of small villages alongside te way. Once we arrive Todra Gorges we will take a short walk discovering the sceneries of Todra strems and rocks, and then we continue our journey to finally join Dades Valley where we spend our night in riad

Day 7 : Dades Valley – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech :

After having breakfast in the hotel, we will drive through Dades Valley heading to Kelaat M’gouna and Ouarzazate. Within our route towards Kelaat M’gouna we will see a lot of Kasbahs which were historically used as the houses of valuable, famous families in the ancient times. After the rose’s valley, we pass through Skoura village, continuing to Ouarzazate “the Hollywood of Africa” where we will visit Cinema Studio. Moreover, we keep going till reaching the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah which is the largest Kasbah in Morocco.

We take lunch there. After visiting this UNESCO matrimonial historical monument, we continue our trip via the charming pass of Tizi N Tichka (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains. During the pass we will enjoy panoramic views of the landscape seeing farmers working in their farms and we will also see them herding their animals. Additionally, we will have chance to visit argan, olive oil cooperatives. Then continue our journey to Marrakech.

Day 8: Marrakech sightseeing :

After breakfast in riad, we start our journey sightseeing the city of Marrakech “the red city of Morocco”, it was founded in the XII century by Almoravidian dynasty. We will insist on to see the most important cites oh cultural and historical heritage. You will have great chance to visit Saadiyin Tomb, Majorelle Gardens, Koutoubia Tower. Moreover, our guide will lead you to see Bahia square, the Souk of the city, and then you go to join the famous square of the medina where you will see and discover the fascinating serpent’s magician, “funny seminars” where some professional or humorous people tell fabulous and nice jokes, riddles…On the afternoon, you will have free time to walk around and see, discover other places of the city by yourself.

Day 9 : Marrakech – Essaouira :

After you have breakfast in your riad, our staff meets you in the reception aiming to arrange, organize a nice trip discovering the sceneries of “Mogador” Essaouira. Within Marrakech-Essaouira route we will come across small women shops of Argan cooperatives. We will take you in an enormous tour in Morocco to enjoy your day wandering around this ocean town exploring the old fortified fishing port of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast. This latter is the favourite of wind and kite surfers due to the shallow waters. It was once a favourite haunt of Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix.

Despite the beach, there are also plenty of things to experience in this town. We will ensure that you will find out and see the most well known monuments of this city: amazing cohesion, mixture of Portuguese-Berber architecture, colourful Souks, French-designed medina, and art galleries. Moreover, you will come across the Mellah (sizeable old Jewish quarter) and the Portuguese fortress built in 16th century to protect their commercial base of Mogador.

    Day 1 : Arrival to Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes

The Hassan II Mosque will be the first introduction of Moorish influences in Morocco.     Day 2 : Meknes – Volubilis – Fes

    Next Morning after a nice breakfast we start our visit of Meknes with the granary Sahrij Swani. It is used to store food and water for the ‘’black Army’’ of the sultan Moulay Ismael. We can visit the mausoleum of the sultan and admire the Arab-Andalusian style. We will have a look at the tremendous gate of Bab Mansour. Only 30 km from Meknes we discover Volubilis .The archeological roman site well-preserved listed in UNISCO (1997),remains of astonishing mosaics, hundreds of Latin inscriptions and artistic materials. Our trip for today will be finished in Fes.

    Day 3 : Fes

    After breakfast you meet our local guide of Fes ; you are going to explore the old medieval medina of Fes and the 1st imperial city, a real labyrinthine of more than 9000 alleyways and deserves to be the intellectual and cultural capital of the kingdom. Mingled with fasi people in these streets full of articles , colours and donkeys carrying goods . The tanneries, which are well-known in Fes, are one of the highlights of the tour. Here, you can observe residents working on goat, lamp, camel, and cow skins in little pits. Fes is ranked number one in crafts. Also, you will treat yourself to a few unique Fes cuisine delicacies. The southern tower of Fes offers a panoramic view, and you can visit the pottery cooperative there to see how Moroccan mosaic tiles are made. You can also choose to complete your tour of Fes with an entertaining supper performance with belly dancers.

    Day 4 : Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

    We are going to leave the medieval Fes and heading to another part of Morocco. Crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains .We stop for a short break in Ifran or the small Switzerland where is the first ski resort in Morocco. We will be surrounded by amazing sceneries and landscapes of mountains and plains. A special species of native monkeys living in cedar woods, over 30 members in one family called Maggot monkeys in Azrou. We will have lunch break in Midelt, it celebrates the festival of apples every years. There is a big contrast of landscapes especially when we drive through Ziz valley to get us to Arfoud ,the gate of the sahara, to Merzouga.

    Day 5 : Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges – Palm Groves of Skoura Ouarzazate

    After breakfast, we depart from the Sahara and travel to the Eljerf oasis, which still uses an ancient irrigation system. Take a break in Tinjidad before stopping in the Toudra valley for lunch. This valley has a rich history as one of Morocco’s oldest caravan trading routes and the site where the first Moroccan money was minted from silver. The valley boasts 15 km of date palms and ends with spectacular gorges, popular for rock climbing and picnics. Next, we explore the Dades valley, with stunning rock formations formed over millions of years of erosion. We also visit the Rose Valley, the only place in Morocco where we harvest Damascus rose and extract products like rose water and rose oil, perfect for skincare and anti-wrinkle treatment. Overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

    Day 6 : Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech

    The next morning in Ouarzazate, we’ll visit two places: the Taourirte Kasbah, an example of Berber architecture made of clay and straw, and the cinema studio. Then, we’ll walk through the ancient village of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for being featured in many movies, including “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Gladiator,” and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterward, we’ll visit the Telouet Kasbah, a fortress built by Thami Pasha and a former caravan trading center. We’ll travel north through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, a stunning road with red mountains and Berber villages, to reach Marrakech.

    Day 7 : Marrakech

    Marrakech is a popular tourist destination, with Bahia palace, mosaics, stucco, Saadian Tomb, and souks like Jack Majorelle garden. The square Jamaa Elfana is a bustling place with snake charmers, monkeys, food stalls, and musicians. The local guide provides information about the many attractions.

    Day 8 : Marrakech – Casablanca

    When you are ready you will have a transfer to the airport of Marrakech or airport of Casablanca and it will be the end of imperial cities 8 days in Morocco.
